Simon Gray & Le Cine Anglais

Before his sad death, Simon Gray had become a regular visitor to the restaurant and launched the third volume of his Smoking Diaries in the Private Room. We are therefore very proud to launch our new film club, Le Cine Anglais with a season of his work, with dinner and a talk with the leading actors and directors.

An original screenplay for a BBC film by Simon Gray.  Guest appearance of Peter Bowles and director Udayan Prasad in conversation with Harry Burton and the audience.

7.15pm Screening of RUNNING LATE at Odeon, Whiteley's
8.45pm Discussion on stage with Peter Bowles, Udayan Prasad and Pat O'Connor

After Pilkington    Tuesday 30th March

After Pilkington was first broadcast by the BBC on 11th November 1986.  It won the Prix Italia in 1987 and is being re-issued as a Faber Contemporary Classic in Simon Gray: Plays 4 in Summer 2010.  Starring Miranda Richardson, directed by Christopher Morahan and produced by Kenith Trodd.

Children's Easter Party - Sunday 4th April

Following the success of our Christmas party, we will be hosting a Children's Easter party on Easter Day. We will have an entertainer in the private room and our fabulous roaming magician. There will an Easter Egg competition with prizes for those children who bring in the most innovative egg.  From 12.00 to 3.30pm

Bridge at Le Cafe Anglais - Monday 22nd March

From 7pm come along with or without a partner and enjoy a social game with canapes and then dinner.  Edward Sunley, renowned bridge guru, will provide advice on bidding or play as required.  These evenings are aimed at those who have played some bridge, but are not necessarily expert.  The bridge, canapes, a choice of main courses, dessert, coffee and soft drinks or half a bottle of wine are all included for £40.00 plus service.
